| Mystery Babylon The Great The Mother Of Harlots
Numerous articles have been written concerning the end times, and one topic that has stumped many scholars is the question of “Who is Mystery Babylon The Great?” . The identification of this city has led some to view Rome, the Vatican, and the United States as being identified as Mystery Babylon. However, evidence will show that Mystery Babylon is in fact none other than Gods Holy City, Jerusalem.
What did you say? Jerusalem! YES JERUSALEM. But that would mean that Jerusalem would have to become some kind of international city, and would have to become the most successful city on the planet. YES IT WOULD, and it appears from recent news articles that this is exactly what may occur. Also, Jerusalem would have to become a religious smorgesbourg, a center for the end time religious movement led by the false prophet! Yes it does, and the events taking place today seem to be pointing this fact out.
AN ANALYSIS OF MYSTERY BABYLON
One of the most vivid and striking images of the woman, Mystery Babylon The Great, is that of her attire.
Revelation 17:4 describes her as:
"... arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: "
Now compare the above description of Mystery Babylon with that of Jerusalem in Jeremiah 4:30:
"And [when] thou [art] spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; [thy] lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life. "
In the bible nothing is a coincidence. These two cities are dressed the same for a reason. God is trying to show us that they look and are the same, and that not only do they dress alike, but they have something else in common with the way they look.
Lets take a look:
In Revelation 17:5 Mystery Babylon the Great has something written on her forehead: a name written, "MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH", and yet Jeremiah 3:3 describes Jerusalem in a less descriptive but similar way. Jeremiah 3:3 says "that thou hadst a whore’s forehead". Throughout the scriptures God uses comparative descriptions to make a point. Just as the day of the lord and the day of Gods wrath (Look at our book NATW online for the comparisons). We also see in Revelation 17:5 that Mystery Babylon the Great is the Mother of Harlots, and in Revelation 17:2 she has committed fornication with the Kings (plural) of the earth. Additionally, in Jeremiah 3:1 Jerusalem is described as playing the harlot with many lovers while Mystery Babylon is described as fornicating with the Kings of the earth.
Another powerful connection with Jerusalem being Mystery Babylon, is that in Ezekiel 16:32-36 God says that Jerusalem was as a wife and has committeth adultery by taking in strangers instead of her husband, and that she is contrary to other whores in that she gives her lovers gifts as oppose to receiving gifts like most whores. Could this be Israel in her present situation of giving up land for peace and receiving nothing in return. Read it for yourself below:
[But as] a wife that committeth adultery, [which] taketh strangers instead of her husband!
33 They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.
34 And the contrary is in thee from [other] women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary.
35 ¦ Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:
36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;
Additionally, in verse 36 we see that Jerusalems filthiness was poured out and her nakedness discovered through her whoredoms, and in Revelation 17:4 the whore has a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. This cup is the cup that Jerusalems filthiness was poured out of in Ezekiel 16:36 along with her abominations. Furthermore, God said in Revelation 17:16, "And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire". Compare this with the Ezekiel 16:37-41, where God says of Israel that He will gather all of Israels lovers with whom she has committed fornication round about her, and STRIP HER of HER CLOTHES and leave her NAKED and BARE, and BURN HER HOUSES WITH FIRE. This sounds a lot like Revelation 17:16 to me. Could it all just be a coincidence. I do not think so.
Read Ezekiel 37-41 for yourself:
37 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all [them] that thou hast loved, with all [them] that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.
39 And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.
40 They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
41 And they shall burn thine houses with fire....
One of the proverbs used against Jerusalem is ...As is the mother, so is the daughter (Ezekiel 16:44). Thus I believe this is why Mystery Babylon is the Mother Of Harlots as oppose to the daughter of harlots. The daughter is so much like the mother that they are for all purposes the same. Jerusalem throughout the scriptures was known as the daughter of zion when Israel was right with God, but I believe that when she became a whore she became like the mother of whores.
In Ezekiel 16:48 Jerusalem is described as having a sister, and her sisters name was SODOM. However, Jerusalem is described as being worse in her sins than her sister ever was in terms of her pride etc... (Read Ezekiel 16:49 for description of Sodoms sins). In Revelation 11:8 God says,. that spiritually the great city (Jerusalem) is called SODOM and EGYPT where our Lord was crucified. We know that where our Lord was crucified was the city Jerusalem. Now look at the above verse. Spiritually Jerusalem is called SODOM. Remember, in Ezekiel 16:48, Jerusalem is described as having a sister called SODOM. So why is Jerusalem spiritually called SODOM in Revelation 11:8? The reason Jerusalem is spiritually called SODOM is because she does everything that her sister did, but to a much greater degree.
In Revelation 16:19 Mystery Babylon is described as a great city that was divided into three parts, and that the cities of the nations fell... We also see in Zechariah 14 that when Jesus comes and sets his foot upon the Mount of Olives that it will split in many directions. Is this just another coincidence, or are we proving our case here. Additionally, in Revelation 16:19 God says that he will give the great city ...the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. And by no coincidence we see a similar description of Jerusalem in Isaiah 51:17:
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, [and] wrung [them] out.
We see that Jerusalem has drunk the wine of the wrath (fury) of God just as the great city Mystery Babylon. And to further prove that the great city is Jerusalem, and Mystery Babylon look at the following verse in Revelation 17:18:
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
We have further proved that the great city is where our lord was crucified, and that it is that self same woman Mystery Babylon. How plain can it get.
Mystery Babylon is also described as having the blood of the Saints on her hands in Revelation 17:6:
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
Additionally, in Revelation 18:24 we see that she is responsible for all that were slain upon the earth.
REVELATION 18:24:
And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
Now Jerusalem is described in a similar way in Matthew 23:34-37:
34 ¦ Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and [some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute [them] from city to city:
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
Both Jerusalem and Mystery Babylon has killed Gods prophets. Is it just another coincidence? In Matthew 23:35 God says "that all the righteous blood shed upon the earth is upon Jerusalem", and yet in Revelation 18:24 we see that the blood of all slain upon the earth is upon Mystery Babylon The Great. I think we are seeing the picture now.
In Revelation 21:2 we see that a New Jerusalem comes down out of heaven from God. Now a New Heaven and a New Earth are not created until after the millennial reign of Christ, so why a New Jerusalem for the millennium reign. Could it be because the Old Jerusalem was destroyed. I think it is a great possibility.
I truly believe that this is a correct interpretation of scripture, and that Jerusalem is Mystery Babylon. Todays newspapers and articles from the Jewish community seem to prove this fact. Read the articles in the NWO section of the website and see how the Vatican wants to administrate Jerusalem. Furthermore, the bible says in Luke 21:24 that ... Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. I believe this occurs when the Vatican administrates Jerusalem as agreed upon secretly in OSLO I, and Jerusalem becomes an international city. I believe that in a relatively short time we will see everything the bible predicts fulfilled, and for you pre-tribbers, you had better wake-up and prepare yourselves for persecution; because the time is short. Do not say you were not warned.
